I attended the Indigenous Health Conference in 2018 and gained so much from the experience. I learned that “Indigenous health” is so much more than just the physical health of Indigenous people. It includes conversations about mental health, wellbeing, tradition, family, politics, policy, land, spirituality… I knew right away that I wanted to continue to participate in these conversations, and that’s why I joined the Indigenous Health Movement team.
I look forward to connecting with other students and professionals that are passionate about this movement, as well as learning with and from them. I hope that the 2019 Indigenous Health Conference inspires more discourse about Indigenous Health, and encourages others to explore the complexities of this field.
